nownownow.com
A month ago I announced the /now page movement, where many personal websites are adding a “/now” page to answer the question, “What are you focused on now?”
At the time, only ten websites had a /now page. Now there are over 300.
It’s incredible. People are saying it helps them prioritize and focus.
Greg Albritton emailed to say he made a list of everyone with a /now page. So I turned that into its own website: nownownow.com.
It’s been a fun programming project. I’ve been doing it full-time for the past month. (Thanks to Sascha Krause in Berlin for contributing a better design.)
Then Greg wanted to do feature profiles, so he came up with six questions that I asked everyone. Now if you click the links on nownownow.com, it will bring you to a page where you can get to know the person behind the site.
It’s addicting and inspiring to browse these profiles, and visit their sites. People have told me they are getting a good amount of traffic to their site from people browsing nownownow.com, so…
How to add yours?
If you already have a website, just add a new page. If you’re using WordPress, look for “Pages” on the left, and choose “Add New”. Give it a “permalink” of /now.
Write something about what you’re doing now, and publish. Once it’s online, email me the link, and I’ll add it to nownownow.com. After it’s up, I’ll ask you the questions for a profile page.
If you don’t have a website, but have been meaning to get one, create a free one at Bear. Before you announce it, I highly recommend getting your own domain name at Porkbun. Point your domain to your Bear blog, and use that.
What now?
Someone asked me what my vision is for the /now page movement. But I’ve never had one. I just enjoy being of service. People tell me what they want, and if it’s something I can do, I do.
So if you have a good idea for what this could use or could be, please leave a comment here, or email me.
Very cool. My wheels are turning.
This is a really cool idea. I'll be sure to check it out when I have my own /now page.
Thanks for sharing!
What about connecting people on the site who might be to help another person with one or more of their /now items (say, one person is working on writing a book, and another person is an experienced author or has a connection to a publisher)?
A simpler variation of that could also be to simply connect people with similar /now items. Shared goals could help like-minded people bond over similar interests, even encouraging them to support each other in accomplishing their similar /now goals (like a /now accountability partner).
Lots of ways to build a community around this. Let's hear it!
As usual, a thought provoking project... I'm headed back to check more /nows...
Great idea. I just did it and sent you an email:).
Thanks for the tip!!
Ken
Thanks for sharing, great ideas, and straight to the point. Will share this to my friends!
I don't know, Derek... I used to enjoy/be smitten by your emails, but lately they seem sort of cheap and commercial?
To me you peaked with the email about our perception of the meaning of life, and historical organized religions etc., being based on evolutionary propensities of pattern identification. You concluded there, instead of exploring what else might be available or important e.g. our brains having very limited information to work with: a narrow spectrum of photon (eyes) and air pressure (ear) information in a very narrow personalized context of size, scale and time in surrounded eternities and infinities.
Hamlet: "there is nothing good or bad, but thinking makes it so" Is Derek Sivers abandoning the Advance Guard of Thought- say it ain't so Descartes said Jesus!
Good thinking, Derek.
You have interesting ideas. I also like that this one is seemingly purposeless.
These are often the best ones. Let's see where it will lead.
Thank you!
Super fantastic! I bet there's a fun and easy way to add a filter to scan the survey questions or the now pages themselves, and add a way to group or sort now pages by similar interest. A way to connect people with overlapping now lists!
Love the effort, keep at it!
Genius idea! I'm definitely inspired to set up my Now page.
Not sure what to make of it, really. No sure of much else either. Much rather turn off the computer and play my guitar. But as we all want traffic from the multi-void, I may give it a try. May...
Love your ideas, Derek!
Is it okay to use an alias?
Like, www.climatesafety.info/now
There is just SO much urgent NOW NOW NOW over this topic - things are worse than most people realise. If climate change was a threat by a foreign power, with no doubt we would put everything else aside in order to prevent the deadly danger. Everything in our society would be guided by it.
While the United Nations announced last month that the national commitments of 146 nations won’t be solving the climate problem caused by our uncontrolled air pollution, the good news is that there is no lack of technical solutions lined up to solve the problem. There is only a lack of will. Will from people like you and me. So, instead of waiting around for our politicians to make the right decisions, we really need to start acting at a local level – as individuals, as families, and as businesses. NOW NOW NOW!
I like your NOW-clock, Derek. Is it creative commons? Can we use it?
Sorry I don't know who the image belongs to. It seems to be an item for sale on Amazon and Etsy. Search for “now clock”. — Derek
I totally see how this could benefit an artist (music) and you'll be hearing from me (hopefully tomorrow - no promises) for my StevieJewel.com/now page - it will sure keep us on track I think!
Much Gratitude from Nashville! :)
this is great! i'm going to update mine.
"People tell me what they want, and if it’s something I can do, I do."
Would be cool if this was the scope of the project; what each person can offer someone else.
"Here's what I'm doing right now, if it's something you need, get in touch and I'll see if I can help."
I want to buy "WowWowWow.com" - and put up a photo of your smiling face, Derek :)
Lovely idea. Thank you.
Interesting. I like Adam's (#3) idea on how to connect people with similar goals.
Sounds good Derek!
☺
Everything on the net is "now." That's the problem—it's hard to find dates on most pages or to have any sense of chronology. I agree, to have a quick way to find the most current events on a website seems cool...until we remember that the hardest part about having a website is keeping it current! 'Now' you've created yet another page that needs tending! :)_
Derek,
What a great idea! I'm swamped with non-fun things right now, but I'll follow on Twitter & when I'm able, I'll add that page! Thank you & Happy Thanksgiving!
Pam
I wish I knew how to add a page to my website.
I love my now page, thanks Derek, it totally keeps me focused!
Interesting concept Derek...!!! Just the other day...., I mentioned to a friend how you first touted 'tweeting' to me in an email a number of years ago....!!! It was a long time before Twitter became an internet giant. You are always very perceptive....!!!
Stay well...!!!
Best regards, Trade.
I am loving it, Derek! I had gotten out of the habit of a daily "incompletes" list which I would prioritize into a work plan. My "Now" page has become a version of that. What is FUN about it is when people ask "What are you up to these days?" or some similar question I just reply "http://abcompany.com/now" then sit back to find out if they were really interested or not.
Over the years that I have been following your posts and articles I have gotten innumerable good ideas and "ahahs." This one is high on the list. Thanks again!!
As I am a technoklutz and more than one click is a puzzle I'll do this with my daughter and it may take some time. What I'm doing now (anyway) is seeking to stay sane in a corridor of confusion. Not negative or positive just very inquisitive and seeking to stay strong.
Hi Derek,
I think this is a great idea.
Stanford Hospital is zeroing in on a tumor Christina has on her adrenal gland. Once she gets her health back, I think she wants to focus on singing with children again and then this would be very useful on a website.
Thanks very much for your generosity and service,
Patrick
Hello Derek, Thank you so much, first for being "A Doer", of what you profess... and secondly, for being unlimited in your passion for helping others, by networking & sharing incredible knowledge/wisdom!
Newcomers are very fortunate to be interconnected with individuals, that have been trailblazers among potential entrepreneurs!
Like many, I have already entered the atmosphere of Holiday Celebrations... and will be allowing myself to be fully present with love ones who have been patiently sharing my attention, throughout the year.
However, I am very interested in participating and will reconnect early in the new year! In the meantime, I wish you & your family the very best Holiday Season! Stay connected & SAFE! Lol, Will
PS: YOU ARE THE BEST ☺!
So fun to see this developing into ......? No idea, just a fun project :)
Actions speak louder than words. I can see how much work this was for the past month. A tiny spark and now a great list and more important a great inspiration and focus.
Hi,
Why not implement tags? I would really like to know what kind of projects other bitcoin enthusiasts like me are now working on.
Thanks
You might start categories such as music, travel, business ideas, film, visual art, clothes, education, etc, etc.
I love it. Focusing on your endeavors is a nice positive framework. It's refreshing and simple. The question of what are you doing right now provokes clarity. I'm always interested in what you are doing and saying, Mr. Sivers.
I am always entertained when I stumble upon something like this apparently meaningless experiment that has the power to have profound impact. This certainly qualifies as a "make useful things and share what I learn" opportunity. And I love the notion of publicly declaring a "now" priority, although I will admit to then worrying outloud about how frequently I might be expected to change my "now" statement. So without getting lost in that rabbit hole, I will jump over to setup a now page on my site. Thanks for the inspiration.
thanks for inviting us to be a part of the movement :)
Yes! Eckhart Toll and Heidegger are nownownow happy to have a presence in Web 3.0! Happy for this.
Did you hear me saying, "Now...now ...now," in Dr. Maloney's office back in 1982-1984? If so, did it leave that office?
Finding this at 4:16 AM in the midst of somechurning over my inaction in-the-now these days. I think this may be a key discovery at a crucial time for me. Right now I am thankful.
As ever...a wonderful starting point for discovery. Thank you!
Great idea...uh, I'm sure! Ha! I haven't done mine yet, but I expect the experience will be cathartic, fun, informative, relevant, socializing, challenging, broadening, and _____! I hope people will keep it non-political, non-sectarian, personal and...oh yeah, focused! Thanks for stepping out into the unknown, Derek!
Hi Derek,
I love hearing from you and
I love all your articles and reading them but, i won't be getting a NOW page. Sorry 'am not a techie type of fellow. I am pretty limited around a computer.
NOW, if your name is Derek Sivers, you know whatever he does NOW, is going to be great. Avrilx
Good projekt!
Thanks! I already have website, but in latvian (created with Jumla).
Very lovely I definitely want to join in.
Thanks Derek
Hi Derek!
It's been a long time since I contacted you. Life has been hectic this year.
My question is: as a film composer (invisiblearts.net) trying to expand my network and getting to higher circles, where more budget and better quality is to be found, how can nownownow help me?
I looked at the website through my iPhone but only saw websites.
Thank you. Love the way you look at life.
All the best!
"Now" is the power point. Huge leaps in awareness and consciousness can be realized by training ourselves to "be here now"...old concept, but becoming more and more relevant. I use "OWIMA"..."On What Is My Attention" to bring myself into the now and create a moment to change my thoughts if they are on a subject not to my benefit.
Hey Derek that awesome make me think about online and offline and how it affects us in the now, also it is very inspiring that you are sharing with us this, makes me want to share more and be more for others, KEEP UP THE AMAZING WORK :)
Great stuff Derek. I've already discovered a few neat people this morning.
Derek-- this is another very cool offering, and I'm a huge fan of your projects. I like the intention. Yet every time I have to go check in on-line or do something else in the digital world, it chews up another chunk of my now time, and what I want to be doing which is writing songs and performing and connecting face to face with people. So for now-- and just for now-- I'm gonna pass...
Last year I bought the domain "envisionabetterworld.com"...for no reason. LOL! I just felt that there would be a need for it...and this may be it. There is so much negativity in the news we are delivered trough regular media. But the truth is, there is much more good going on in the world than bad. This could be used as a twitter type of site for people sharing what they are doing to make the world better. It could be broken into categories like: "providing medical care" "helping animals" inspiring children" contributing to the arts" "making the world cleaner" "making the world more fair" ...anyway, you get the idea. Here is what I am up to right now...creating a summit to bring together higher education, workforce development and economic development so that they work more in sync. Check out summit.nereta.org I do envision a better world...but would love to hear more about what people are already doing to make it happen. Very inspirational...and allows us to build off of best practices already going on.
I like this idea. On the surface it seems like an extension of tweetimg, FB posting, and the hordes of new ways to engage people, but in essence, because we're declaring it as Now, and because it's part of our website, what we're communicating requires a deeper commitment to actually being present moment minded. That's my immediate analysis anyways. And since I'm currently trying to "say no to everything else" it may be a while before I get to this. And thank you.
Here is mine: http://www.lkazphoto.com/Now
Great idea Derek, thanks for sharing it and featuring me on the site!
If you recall about a year and a half ago, I wrote you re: becoming a professional speaker. You'll be happy to hear that I gave my first TEDx Talk last Thursday! (video not ready yet). I appreciate your help.
I started a /now page initially as a way to hold myself accountable for the major projects and life goals that I wanted to keep focused on. For me, it's actually been incredibly helpful to go back and look at it to help me keep focused.
Thus far since my now page went up (http://azraelgroup.com/now/) I have actually done the following.
1) Finished up 3 major Lynda courses and finished a certificate program on Coursera for Interaction Design.
2) Wrote several new blog posts.
3) Made huge strides in my campaign setting for my Pathfinder compatible game.
4) Taught my puppy to "Battle Cry" (just a glorified howl)
5) Slowly been adding new work to my Behance
6) Most importantly, worked with my therapist to stop feeling unnecessary guilt.
This project is a bit of catharsis for me, Its helped me to be more open about what it going on in my personal and professional life. Reading what others are doing right now as well is humanizing and I grateful to learn from everybody.
Great project Derek, My now page will be something that I will keep far into the future.
Always good to hear from you. I'm checking it out.
I love this very thoughtful project! I definitely plan to join in! Thank you for creating and sharing!
Hi Derek
Right now I'm trying to reach out to more people with music, but I often find that they like my nature photos more than they like music. I sense more and more that we live in an instant gratification society that lives for the whim of the moment.
All the greatest to you, Derek!
Bill Thurman
Love it, Derek. Now is such a powerful word, and important for those of us dreamers who need to have some footing in our "noW". Peace to ya, Derek. I look forward to following your post a bit closer this year.
yes3
When NOW is your consciously chosen launch-pad in life... when it filters your perception, pleasure, pain and plans... you can also:
(1) keep your website *simple*, so that you can;
(2) keep your website current with your personal or business evolution.
I never viewed my sites as something to "set, and forget."
Instead, I tend them like a lover. I dote.
I check-in so much because my heart is in those spaces.
I think incessantly about how to enhance the UI/UX... while, simultaneously, help a reader glide into a deeper aspect of themselves.
I am not static. And it literally hurts when a growth gap or disparity has become too great between my actual self, and my online representative selves, (empathicwriter.com and sativayoga.com, if curious).
For these reasons, since 2008, I've attuned all my pages to 'now.'
This is so awesome. I bought a domain two years ago and don't have it associated with anything. The goal was to funnel creating a second brand (I'm a singer,) to focus on EVERYTHING else I do. Hence the name amydoesit.com. But I haven't gotten it off the ground. NOW I'm producing a yoga and wellness event and I'm so inspired by the idea of NOWNOWNOW (the only thing that matters, btw,) that I can't wait to learn more and take advantage of the opportunity to be accountable for my vision and inspiration. Whatever that happens to look like NOW. Thanks, Derek
I love this idea, brilliantly simple. Keeps you focused, and helps answer that age old you always get asked when networking. Genius.
Additional thought, About.me style evolution of Now. Just an idea.
Fast thought-sharing and contagious inspiration. Thanks, Derek.
just reading the word "Now" gives me so much ease and relief! Phew! what a relief... the internet is so much about doing stuff for tomorrow, striving, goals, or failures, missing the boat , losing opportunities, the "Now" setup, for me, says, forget about yesterday, and what you went be ... however old you are are, wjust reading the word "Now" gives me so much ease and relief! Phew! what a relief, well that's what I think
The now movement seems like an incredible idea. At the very least, it helps us all focus on what we care about in the present moment. I can see this growing into a think tank of what is urgent, what really matters, and what may need to be addressed globally while be able to identify people who would want to serve in the cause.
Great questions. I need a web site; you've given me an incentive.
I didn't go too far down the list of comments, but Adam's (#3) suggestion of finding a way to link people with similar interests sounded like a great idea.
As always, thank you, Derek.
I apologize for being dense in advance. What is the purpose of Nownownow? Is this a networking site? If so, how would someone with an idea find the right needle in the haystack?
Thanks.
I emailed you 2 ideas from above email address.
The Now Clock reminded me of the famous Yogi Berra quote: "What time is it? You mean now?" :) I love it!
Hi Derek,
My sculpting blog has been called 'now' since before 'now'. I do not post to it that frequently since I'm usually sculpting ☺
Have fun riding this wave!
Kimmerjae
Love this! And for some reason I can't help but picture the seagulls from Finding Nemo who keep reporting "mine, mine, mine..." - only in my head, now they're saying "now, now, now..."
Hi Derek,
Is there a way to update our profile on the six questions section when that changes?
Thanks
There will be soon. — Derek
Great idea. What are YOU working on now?
All the best, nz
sive.rs/now">sive.rs/now">sive.rs/now ☺ — Derek
Good idea. anything that helps us to remember the Now is important, that's all we have:
why sidestep the moment
tripping thru the past
your timeline is rolling
the rivers moving fast
let go if the bank
I thought you said you could swim
the current will let you win
when you honor the here and now
that you're in.
( new lyrics)
I'll be sure to add Niw pages to my websites!
Dear Derek,
I love how present you always are. The simple authenticity of your presence is what makes everything you do so meaningful. Unfortunately, I am very bad at maintaining a web presence. I will definitely consider doing the now page when I get my web act together. I love the idea and this just may be the reason why I may get my page up to date. Thanks again for being you!
Raghava
Some years ago, on the theory that what people are doing now shapes the future, I began asking my friends (in their 20s and 30s) what their vision for the future was. These were all intelligent, educated, capable people yet only one, a young woman named Becky, could answer my question. She said her vision was of a world with more songbirds, where the water was safe to drink and where women could walk alone safely at night. And she was working towards those things in what ways she could.
I hope everyone who is sharing is doing what they're doing now because it helps bring them -- and by extension all of us -- a little closer to a better tomorrow. Thank you for giving people a new way to share that --
This is friggin awesome, I am doing it NOW!
how does this differ from all the other similar things on the internet ???
Connecting good writers with quality publishers would be one specific possibility.
More generally, connecting producers (or art, products, writing, services) with consumers of said.
http://joescoffeefix.blogspot.com/p/now.html
I learn so much from reading other people's now pages. It's like a class of artists all got an assignment to create something within a certain constraint and they all came up with something different.
Hi Derek! I haven't viewed it. I always have found your projects good and thought provoking. I have no time for Facebook, and indeed relish my time since I've gotten off worthless social sites. With so many viable ways to communicate, why have one more? I wish you all the best and a meaningful Thanksgiving, -Heidi
Wow!Owesome, thanks for sharing this great idea!soon I'll make sure I have my now page>>>
Hi Derek,
It's always great to hear from you! "Now" is the future in the making. Everything happens from the continuation of " now moment. " What happens now defines the future. Your post always sparks!
Best from Gong Qian
A nice surprise in my inbox, checking it out now
Derek,
What is the point in this site?
Is the purpose to bring more attention to sites no one is looking for, or to bring attention to personnel sites no one cares about.
Tim.........
I have a now page but now i gotta make sure i update it on the regular. maybe the first of the month every month is a good time to update the now page!
Cool! It would be great if nownownow would add a search function, to work across all /now pages. That would enable people to make connections, get inspired, etc.
Thanks for sharing this with me, Derek! Of course I want to be a part of it, will be now working on my NOW subpage...will be interesting to follow this project as it will be growing in the coming months. Best, Andrew:)
One for all and all for one! Amazing what happens when folks synthesize synergy to co-create ways of being the change our world needs!
At the moment, my style of 'crowd-sourcing' is to pay people to teach! Yup! PAY people to teach. We're havin a BLAST!
In gratitude I bow to all "change agents" called to be of service . . .
Aloha!
Soul
You are a true inspiration Derek. I'm so glad I found you and I'm having fun being a part of your nownownow community. I have definitely received a lot of traffic to my website since you've been promoting the now pages. Thank you!
I do value this article.Makes me realize how fractured my sense of time is.
Awesome!
What about a meow page?
Love it Derek. Now is now on my to do list. Love the clock face. I don't wear watches but I'd wear one like that and live for the day someone asked me what time it was.
Thanks for sharing!
This is great Derek! I first heard about this from Steven Cravis. I was immediately interested in having my own Now page and I am going to get right on setting that up! Thank you for all of your service over the years, helping Independent artists be, well, independent! You're the best. Gratefully, Mother Turtle
What a great idea, Derek! I read through just a few of the websites listed on your website and it was very motivating indeed to stay on my path and keep productive despite having to be on the road for a little while longer than I originally anticipated this trip.
And this message is something of a coincidence for me as well, as in the midst of some troubling emotions I was recently going through, I was motivated to ask any and all friends that were logged in on Facebook at the time what exactly they were doing right NOW, and ended up having some really interesting and good conversations. It totally helped to take my mind of my troubles.
BTW, just visited Singapore for the first time last week. It was great to finally visit it after hearing all the great things you had to say about it when you first moved there. I stayed for 7 days. It looks like a great place to live and make a living, but too expensive to long vacations! I think you have moved on to an even better place now, right?
Best Regards,
Terry
Wow! So who's up for making a "Now Page Creator"? We have to get a standard down first. I like ABCompany.com's now page, it seems pretty thorough...
I think perhaps that the now page should only include today... if you want to see further days in the past, go to archive.
NOW: I will attempt to design a nice now page format for webdombot.com so that I can keep everyone updated as to latest work.
Great idea Derek!
I don't get it?
See nownownow.com/about — Derek
DEREK, You are a visionary and after you signed me up at cdbaby, I began to make money for the first time in my career. THIS IDEA IS GREAT, but unfortunately, I don't have the technical ability and know how,to be apart of your amazing program unless you want to again, take me under your wing and guide me through it. PEACE AND LOVE MY FRIEND,Stay healthy and WELZZZZZ, you beiever and fan; Joey Welz, ceo Canadian American Records and formerly featured pianist with BILL HALEY AND THE COMETS (MCA)
rock star
I absolutely love this. I had on my to-do list to make a /now page modeled after yours anyway, so this is perfect timing! Making it right now. :) Thanks, Derek! It's so inspiring to see what you and other people are spending their time on.
I've been meaning to
You make me smile man...kool
you always come with some very interested stuff..up!up! Derek
I've been long intending to write this kind of list for myself and had toyed with the thought of making it public, for added accounabiliy as well as providing info... Great idea!
Interesting my friend....I will be back to check further. Thanks for letting me know . Have a great weekend !
Great idea Derek. I'll get onto it.
Ironically the path http://nownownow.com/now does not exist :D
I love nownownow Derek! Thank you! Will sign up soon! Need to overhaul TheMikeyAndMarilynShow.com and link up! Enjoyed the RainDance London Film Fest, where we screened The Jungle of Jules Levine(JulesLevineMovie.com) came home on a transatlantic cruise that included a hurricane and propulsor going out, yet even with rough seas we managed to make our way to the dining room and enjoy new friends. We shot some comedy sketches from our balcony and and visited our Swiss family in Florida before flying home. Went on a road trip to scout alternative sanctuaries Incase we need to run away from home for any reason. Funfunfun! How about funfunfunnownownow? I am the entertainment director in our family ! Bought annual passes for the Palm Springs Tram, Palm desert living Desert zoo and botanical gardens, San Diego Botanical Gardens, and Disneyland. We live far from our family and rarely see them. Rather than give unwanted gifts, we took two of our grandchildren shopping and told them to pick anything they like ! It was so much fun! Moritz went right to the sports section and picked out a leather mitt and six baseballs. I suggested that he needed a bat as well. The next day he and his father played catch and I witnessed his extreme skill. He had been playing with friends but didn't have his own equipment. His sister Jrma chose a Barbie set. As a kid I enjoyed working out scenes with these miniatures . I still do, but I usually rip their heads off and use my own heads. Copyright issues!😄 I am studying film marketing and distribution and attended many industry panels and seminars . I am searching for information on the latest in distribution streams. Any suggestions will be welcome. Also putting attention on my publishing company. Still recovering from getting Tboned in 2013. Learned some fascinating things because of it. Trigger Point therapy is like knowing where magic buttons are on the body to unleash pain! The charts are readily available and lots of books! That was a silver lining, discovering this. Coming back from American Bio Dental in TJ Mexico I met Paula Shaw, Author of "Grief". She is a counselor and grief expert. Her blog and books are so healing to the core. We all have losses, be it loved ones, lost love, careers, jobs, our youth, our nerve etc. I had one session with her and many areas of my life which were frozen in space suddenly thawed! I even bought a backpacker uke (guitar has been my living). I like the tone! I also found a chart and cd with all of the different tunings for guitar , mandolin and uke. A friend gave me two beautiful new mandolins. So since my concussion, eating pure raw organic coconut oil (cured a man with Alzheimer's so I decided to try it) and learning new chords on 4 stringed instruments is part of my self imposed therapy. Learning one word each day in a foreign (to me) language is on my list . I do have a book that has English and Spanish words that are the same spelling and meaning. This made me feel like I had a head start. We have everything we need in life. Where to find it seems to be my challenge !love, Marilyn
PS
Look for the "Sivers Lining"!
Where one thing ends and others start, that void that I call incubation for ideas to float is NowNowNow. Two of my favorite tools on my iPhone are Notes and voice memos.. Fleeting brilliant comedy sketches leave almost as quickly as I think of them. Voice memos captures them .
Whenever I ask my dog what time it is, she says, "Now."
What a lovely idea... and a good way to reduce distractions! Thanks
Thanks for sharing with me this cool feature, Derek. I love to click on + and get to know different people from around the world who are enthusiastic, creative and inspirational!
Sounds interesting, might try it. http://amyschugar.com/
Fabulous idea Derek! I followed the link, chose Deepak Chopra and saw he was reading "Who will cry when you die" by Robin Sharma - bought the kindle version, read it - and made some very positive changes in my life already! Gonna set up my own /now page next. Thanks!
Hi Derek: I've been rolling with you over 12 years. CDBaby has been very good to me. OK, I am interested in this nownownow because I'm doing things a bit differently in the past few years. My life has changed drastically and I would like to know more about the nownownow movement. I don't have a website any longer so I'll build another one. After that happens, I'll create a page and send you the link to my new website. I know you sold CDBaby or you're not involved as you were years ago. I hope all is well. I will be in touch before the year is out. Thanks for all you do and enjoy your holidays.
Love it . have been writing songs. About living inthe Now since 1975.my latist one was let my mind go. Www.fredscottjazz com is my site.i would love to add the now site.don't know how but i am sure i will figure it out. great idea Derik.best one yet
Great idea! Derek, do you suggest adding the NOW page to website menu or just to the NOWNOWNOW website. I see people doing both.
Also interesting to see where people park it in the menu...
Seems like under About or News...but variations abound.
Earth Mama® Music team appreciates another fine idea you've given birth to!
Definitely add it to your menu or linked from your ABOUT page. — Derek
Derek great Idea will join up as soon as possible
Agreed cool idea!
Love this Derek - so clever -I'm going to do it!
I looked at the site twice Derek, wasn't understanding it at first but I think I'm getting closer though LOL!
I started working on my Now page an then quickly stopped as I asked myself: how does this differ from a blog? or posting to a facebook page? or instagram? Those are very "now" mediums.
See nownownow.com/about : Q: “Don’t Twitter and Facebook updates do that?” A: “No. If I wonder how someone is doing these days, it doesn’t help me to see that they went on vacation last week, are upset about something in the news, or even got a new job. That’s not the big picture. Think of what you’d tell a friend you hadn’t seen in a year.” — Derek
Hi Derek. Cool idea! Im in the process of building a website for selling my music, Ill definitely put up a now page!
Regards,
Mark
What a great idea!
After spending a few minutes browsing the only problem is is there are too many uncurrated websites, it would be great if there was some sort of tagging system.
Maybe extract or gain commitment of various sub groups willing to give back in time of need; whether it be for a unstoppable project, movement, cause or local regional or national support. Example- there several musicians with a NOW page would they be willing when called upon to perform for an outstanding cause regardless of genre?? Just a thought
I enjoyed listening to your session with Tim Ferris. As far as my age I can certainly be you mother but I am life long learner and now your student.
Nudge theory was named and popularized by the 2008 book, 'Nudge: Improving Decisions About Health, Wealth, and Happiness', written by American academics Richard H Thaler and Cass R Sunstein. The book is based strongly on the Nobel prize-winning work of the Israeli-American psychologists Daniel Kahneman and Amos Tversky. Don't know if you have read it or not but thought I'd pass it on, just in case.
I love this!
Sorry Derek, took a long time to read the email and reply. Loved the now page the movement it followed. It actually takes one to start a movement and not two (in your case :) )
By the way, I am working revamping my site and will add a now page for sure. Will PM you soon with that. Till then keep inspiring :) We are in debt.
I've done it! Now it's time for more action ☺
Heard you on Tim's podcast. Loved your interview. Tim likes thoughtful guys like you.
I don't like that the nownownow site because it cannot be searched. Also I notice that the nows are not now like your now is from Nov. or Jan. I got to the Nov one first for somereason. To solve this problem the now page should go blank in 24 hours or other period if it is not updated.
I am a connoisseur of live content which I find like your book recommendations.. its dependent on what I am interested in but often not valuable enough to out value a good recorded discussion. When someone is having an interesting experience it is shared on facebook and it is in real time. The nows should include ways to connect realtime either periscope or some other live timelining.
I find the now page is useful for people who have a difficult time determining what they can do online. A common question for nebie is what is my calling? The now page inspires people that anything is possible. It gives people a way to reframed what they love and what that could look like in the global net community. Maybe you could use this site to highlight callings.
I Enjoyed your recent podcast with Tim Ferris, very helpful. Thank you.
So cool...thank you so much! Especially NOW! I'm seeing comments that are from 2015, and am shocked that I've not heard of this. I'm creating one NOW.
I've long been a fan of your "Lone Nut Video", thank you for inspiring me again!
Grateful, grateful, grateful!
Nice! Would you still recommend Hover?
Yes. They're great. — Derek
Hello there! It's a mere pleasure to say that, reading your articles , listening to your podcasts has help me drastically! My inner flywheel is gaining its momentum slowly but surely !
Just want to say thanks ! And keep up the life changing experience alive.
What a super nice idea. Creating a blog post about it and connecting it with productivity beyond websites. Thanks for this! And will try doing mine too
Tonight I replied to someone who had last written to me just one season ago. It went nicely, but... tonight looking at this blog post, I was thinking a now page would be too boring.
But then, besides stuff this season, I thought of another thing, and another, and another. Conclusion: I really shouldn't be saying my life is "all a blank" unless I am willing to sit still and have "now stuff" slowly pop up.
I say this for any of my "fellow boring types" out there. What feels "real" is not true when I (and you) take time to think.
...In fact, if I wasn't so modest, I would boast... In a New York accent: "I'm Just saying."
Because everyone I know likes to voice there opinion, use this to express how something made them feel. Maybe even about your web site. Just a thought if possible might be a great way to get feed back. Just my thought.
Cool idea, I'm writing my /now page right now.
Here's my page :)
